ToadShow designs new Interpretive Centre
In the summer of 2009-2010 ToadShow completed installation of a major Glass House Mountains Visitor and Interpretive Centre for the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
The panels, touchscreens, trip planners and furnishings of the ToadShow displays fit neatly into the themed building newly constructed at the entrance to Glass House Mountains township.
Answering the call for inspirational material to bring to life the region for newcomers and residents alike, ToadShow came up with a content-driven rich-media solution. The in-depth material on the history, plants, animals and geology has set a new standard in regional eco and cultural tourism, said Anne Jones, project leader.

The ToadShow team prepared all the content, managed production and installed the display which consists of:
- 4 multimedia kiosks
- children's interactive
- 13 interpretive panels
- 6 outdoor panels
- exterior sign
- 3 graphics panels
- internal signage
- furniture
"ToadShow was involved in detailed community consultation with volunteers from the centre, interested locals, history groups and Indigenous elders. In addition we sought advice from leading scientists such as geologist Dr Warwick Willmott and Queensland Museum's Dr Steve Van Dyck.
"So the content is not only rich it is authoritative," Anne said.
The project was also undertaken in record time with a six-month timeframe from go to whoa.
"The client had a firm deadline for completion of January 2010. We knew that many suppliers shut down over the Christmas period so we brought forward the main installation to December 2009. That way we had a few weeks up our sleeve for any troubleshooting and supply problems.
"Everything was in place by early January and it looks inspiring. If you've always driven by in the past, now you have an excuse to stop and get to know the Glass House Mountains a little better," she said.
The centre is located on Route 24, Steve Irwin Way at the Glass House Mountains Township.
