ToadShow designed and produced all the signage for the restored Old Government House at QUT Gardens Point including the William Robinson Gallery on the first floor.
ToadShow director and senior designer, Damien Ledwich, chose transparent polycarbonate as the medium for the sign. Large format printer, Photoline, printed directly onto the medium in process colour.
"The client wanted to be able to see the colour of the walls but there were 3 different colours. We didn't have time to match process colour to paint. So a transparent material seemed like the perfect solution," Damien said.
"As it turned out the transparent material brought a very interesting quality to the signage. The image of William Robinson against a yellow ochre wall gave the portrait great warmth.
"In addition to looking great, the material is extremely tough. It's perfect for use in a public space," Damien said.
In addition to the signage for the William Robinson Gallery, ToadShow designed, prototyped and produced moveable wayfinding signage and signs revealing the historic use of each room.
ToadShow also produced the multimedia and interpretive panels.
