ToadShow's multimedia department completed a comprehensive oral history project on the Booval Mines Rescue Squad for the Ipswich Art Gallery (a space designed by the ToadShow and Brown James consortium Interpretive Solutions).
ToadShow sourced archival footage and photographs, and shot interviews with retired and current miners, mine owners, mine managers and other industry experts to produce nine five-minute documentary style videos which were delivered via an interactive touch-screen multimedia kiosk.
In conjunction with other aspects of the display, the exhibit showcases many stories and aspects of coal-mining history, technology and culture, with stories including "Then and Now: Developments in Coal Mining", "A Black Day: The Box Flat Disaster" and "The Mines Rescue Brigade: Saving Lives".
